"I don't know what I would do without CAT treatment.  It has given me my life back."    Nora J.

Metabolism is the core problem:

People with either type 1 or type 2 diabetes always have one thing in common, they do not have proper metabolism.  Type 1 and type 2 have the same type of metabolic problem, the inability of their bodies to use sugars (carbohydrates) as food for their cells.  That causes them to “burn” too many lipids (fats).

Why CAT ? (Cellular Activation Therapy) diabetes treatment

Measuring Metabolism is Easy and Accurate:

Sports medicine machines like the one shown here, can accurately measure body wide metabolism (within 2%), because of the difference in the oxygen use when burning fats.  The ratio of Oxygen Consumed to Carbon Dioxide produced give you the “R.Q.” also known as Respiratory Quotient.

People with Diabetes have improper metabolism:

As seen on the following graph, people with diabetes cannot metabolize sugar properly, so they convert to high fat use.   When the cells are not burning sugar, they are burning a type of fat.  (We will show how CAT reverses this problem later).

From textbooks, the relationship is well known.  The RQ (Respiratory Quotient) is shown on the left of the table, and basically, when you are not burning carbohydrates, you are burning fats.  The ratio (RQ) of oxygen consumed to carbon dioxide on the left gives the percentages of carbohydrates and fats.

Diabetic people always have a lower RQ number than non-diabetic.  They always burn much more fat than normal.  The usual range of RQ for a diabetic person after they have eaten is .780 to .880, where the usual range for a non-diabetic person is .910 to 1.00.   That is what is different between the two groups of people, diabetic and non-diabetic, (and as you will learn later, that is what CAT corrects).

Why CAT ? (Cellular Activation Therapy) diabetes treatment

Blood Glucose is just a symptom:

As shown above, and as all textbooks write, diabetes is unquestionably a disease of improper metabolism, not a disease of high or low blood glucose.  High glucose is just a symptom of the inability to properly burn carbohydrates.  This is without question, there can be no argument.  Unfortunately before CAT, there has never been a treatment that addressed the core problem, resting metabolism, so physicians did all they could by trying to keep blood glucose in check.

Careful control of blood sugar is not enough.

Tight control of blood glucose through any means does not give diabetic people proper metabolism, and in fact, as published in the New England Journal of Medicine on March 14, 2010, tight control can be a detriment for certain people with diabetes.  However, this has been known for years.

Careful control was also studied for 20 years by the UK Prospective Diabetes Study (UKPDS), the largest clinical study of diabetes ever conducted.  As shown in the following slide, even with tight control, the ability to stop the progression of the disease is shown:

Why CAT ? (Cellular Activation Therapy) diabetes treatment

The Diabetes Control and Complications Trial (DCCT), was another study which tracked the outcomes of people with type 1 diabetes.  It was the largest US study on diabetes, and ran for over 10 years, with follow on studies (EDIC).  Quoting from the DCCT, it is true:

“while not controlling glucose worsens complications, tight control does not prevent 25% to 40% of diabetic patients from developing overt secondary complications within 10 years.”   (The Diabetes Control and Complications Trial (DCCT).

The Japanese type 2 diabetes study, (Okubo Y, Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice) also known as the Okubo Study, shows, just like the UKPDS and the DCCT, that tight control of blood sugars does not stop the complications of diabetes, leaving a large percentage, from 30% to 53% depending upon the type of complication, to develop the horrible secondary complications of diabetes.

Thus it is proven, the world over, that while not controlling blood glucose worsens the lives of people with diabetes, tight control will not prevent the complications of diabetes, and after those complications are present, sometimes tight control makes them worse.   This truth would be much more depressing were it not for CATCAT unlike just tight control, does stop the complications of diabetes from progressing as they would, and does reverse certain of the complications.  That is why it is equally true, that CAT will give people with diabetes and their families their lives back.

None of the Conventional Treatments stop the complications for many.

Sadly enough, all of the current therapies of Insulin, insulin pumps, oral medications, careful diets and exercise, may help many people, and is better than nothing, but none of the conventional treatments stop complications.   Proof of this fact is the huge problem of diabetes.  No one has been able to achieve proper metabolism on conventional therapy.

Why do Conventional Treatments not stop the complications of diabetes?

The answer is simple, it is the fact that the definition of diabetes is “a disease of improper metabolism” (as mentioned in every textbook on diabetes) and there is no question, that none of the conventional treatments restore proper carbohydrate and lipid metabolism.  While the problem is simple, the answer took over 20 years of research and the development of specialized equipment to treat the complications of diabetes:  Cellular Activation Therapy.

Cellular Activation Therapy (CAT) addresses the CORE PROBLEM of diabetes.

This is, of course improper carbohydrate and lipid metabolism.  The specific problem with diabetes (type 1 or 2) is that the mitochondria in all cells in the bodies of diabetic people are not able to do their natural job of burning carbohydrates, because the cells are not being provided with the stimulation they need in the form of enzymes.  This slide depicts the action of a mitochondria.

Why CAT ? (Cellular Activation Therapy) diabetes treatment

What is missing?

The mitochondria of People with Diabetes are not properly stimulated to provide cellular energy, so the back-up system of lipid and free fatty acid metabolism is over used.  This failure to “burn” carbohydrates is why they have elevated blood sugar when they eat carbohydrates.  This would not be a problem except that carbohydrate metabolism is required for proper health (the “fructose cycle” of deriving energy from sugars).

What causes the cells of a diabetic person not to burn sugars?

Certain cells in the pancreas the “Beta Cells” produce insulin designed to stimulate the liver and provide the signals necessary to have the liver provide enzymes to allow the cells to metabolize sugars.  In non-diabetic people, their pancreas stimulates the liver by delivering insulin in very sharp pulses.  The following slide shows where Dr. Peter Butler of University of Edinburgh in Scotland, showed that insulin is secreted from beta cells in the pancreas almost exclusively in bursts every four to six minutes with an amplitude of 660% of baseline.

Why CAT ? (Cellular Activation Therapy) diabetes treatment

This work confirmed what is different about the way a non-diabetic person receives his or her insulin.    It is also the way that CAT stimulates the liver to provide the signal that the liver needs to prepare the rest of the body to burn (metabolize) carbohydrates.

Why CAT ? (Cellular Activation Therapy) diabetes treatmentHow does CAT stimulate the liver of diabetic people?

The Bionica Microdose pump provides the same type of pulses of insulin

The pulses mimic the pulses given by the person who does not have diabetes.  As shown by the slide below, the pulses of insulin that the Bionica pump delivers are extremely precise pulses of insulin at specific pressures.  This special delivery is required to stimulate the liver and reawaken dormant metabolism. The unique Bionica pump provides the patented treatment, and is the only FDA & CE pump labeled (authorized) for IV Pulsed Insulin, which is also patented.

Why CAT ? (Cellular Activation Therapy) diabetes treatment

Why does not conventional treatment do the same ?

Conventional insulin shots and the wearable insulin pumps cannot provide pulses of insulin as the insulin they deliver is deposited below the skin and has no chance to provide a sharp pulse of insulin to the liver.  Thus, there is no other safe way to mimic the pulses given by to the liver of a non-diabetic person, other than CAT.

What is the pancreas doing in a type 2 ?

People with type 1 diabetes do not make insulin, so of course their pancreas does not provide pulses to signal the liver to help burn carbohydrates.  People with type 2 diabetes do make insulin, but they have very blunted delivery, and do not stimulate the liver.   The following slide shows the response to glucose of a normal person and then a diabetic person.

Why CAT ? (Cellular Activation Therapy) diabetes treatment

This failure to respond properly to glucose is what makes the diabetic person’s liver fail to make the enzymes necessary for proper carbohydrate and lipid metabolism.

What happens before the person with type 2 diabetes become overtly diabetic ?

The problem of not properly stimulating the liver begins before the patient is fully diabetic.  People who are “Impaired Glucose Tolerant” also do not handle glucose properly.  Many of these people become diabetic.

Of importance to note is the fact that even before a patient is fully diabetic, they are failing to properly stimulate their liver.  As shown by the slide below, the Impaired Glucose Tolerant  (IGT) person makes even more insulin than the normal, but it is not in pulses, and is late to be delivered.

Why CAT ? (Cellular Activation Therapy) diabetes treatment

Thus, the people who are “pre-diabetic” and/or impaired glucose tolerant, have late and elevated levels of insulin, which do not turn on enzymes necessary for proper carbohydrate metabolism.

This answers many questions about obesity too.

The interesting thing about being impaired glucose tolerant is that when they eat food, the above high levels of insulin remain after the food is gone.

What happens when a person has high levels of insulin ?

When a person has high levels of insulin after they have used up the glucose they have eaten (as above), they get “clinically hungry.”  Indeed, no matter how strong their will power, if a person gets clinically hungry, they are driven to eat by their elevated blood insulin.

The result is that an IGT person eats, their insulin levels are higher to start with, and go much higher after the carbohydrate food is gone, so they eat again!  They are actually clinically hungry after a meal, and wonder why they are hungry having recently eaten.  The answer is that elevated insulin after the carbohydrates are digested and used causes this hunger.

What happens when they get hungry after a meal ?

The second part of this vicious cycle is even more disruptive to normal health.  The IGT (pre-diabetic) person has elevated insulin, and when you have high insulin and add sugars, you make fat.  Making fat is a byproduct of being hungry after a meal due to high levels of insulin.  In other words, they eat, the insulin does not stimulate the liver to turn on enzymes to burn carbohydrates, and they get hungry shortly after they have eaten, so they snack.  What does a clinically hungry person snack on?  Always carbohydrates!  Thus the cycle continues, they eat they get higher insulin the insulin makes them hungry they snack, and put on pounds of fat.

When you see a morbidly obese person, the 250 to 300 pound person, you are looking at a person who is likely trapped in this cycle of eating, becoming clinically hungry, then snacking due to that clinical hunger, and then getting fatter.  Most of these people are not to be ridiculed!  It is their insulin response condition which causes them to get huge.

What else goes wrong with the Impaired Glucose Tolerant person?

Having elevated insulin levels is a problem in many ways.  It causes patients to become insulin resistant.  That usually happens when the patient has become diabetic (type 2).  It also often leads to diabetes as the cells that make insulin (the beta cells) decline over time.  The follow slide shows the decline of insulin over time.

Why CAT ? (Cellular Activation Therapy) diabetes treatment

The problems exposed.  Now we have shown that:

  1. Diabetes is a disease of improper carbohydrate metabolism,

  2. Low carbohydrate metabolism causes elevated lipid metabolism.

  3. Measuring carbohydrate and lipid metabolism is easy and accurate (+- 2%)

  4. All people with diabetes have improper carbohydrate and lipid metabolism (except those on CAT therapy).

  5. Pre-diabetic people (impaired glucose tolerant) have elevated insulin after they eat.

  6. Many pre-diabetic people become diabetic.

  7. Obesity can often be caused by this pre-diabetic condition, many are not out of control, it is their metabolism which is causing the condition.

  8. Diabetic people do not stimulate their livers to produce the enzymes necessary for the mitochondria to be able to “burn “ sugar, so they always metabolize elevated fats and free fatty acids.

The good news is Cellular Activation Therapy (CAT) with the Bionica Pump, will provide the stimulation necessary for the liver to do its job, and allow proper carbohydrate and lipid metabolism.

Can CAT change metabolic performance ?

    The first job was to make sure that resting metabolism could actually be changed.  As the following slide shows, normals in blue and diabetics in yellow then the same diabetics again in red after 4 days of treatment;

Why CAT ? (Cellular Activation Therapy) diabetes treatment

The diabetic people in yellow after eating 100 grams of sugar, on day “0” have lower RQ’s (metabolism) than non-diabetic.  The use of lipids (fats) is high and the use of charbohydrates (CHO) is lower.  After just 4 days of therapy, these same diabetics are now (red) burning high levels of carbohydrates and have reduced fat utilization. This show that a person with diabetes can be made to metabolize as well or better than a non-diabetic.

What about a mixed meal, and not just straight sugar?   The following slide shows the mixed meal test.  Again, the people with diabetes are in red.

Why CAT ? (Cellular Activation Therapy) diabetes treatment

Why CAT ? (Cellular Activation Therapy) diabetes treatment

After the second day, the people with diabetes are starting to re-awaken their carbohydrate metabolism, and by day 4, they are the same as non-diabetics.  This shows that with a mixed meal, the diabetic can perform like a normal.
What about exercise?  The following slide shows the metabolism change for diabetics who exercise, as compared to non-diabetics.

This test was with the patients at 60% of their maximum output on an exercise bike.  Note that the diabetic subjects are outperforming the non-diabetics in their metabolism.   This shows that as to both meals and exercise, the diabetic person can be converted to a non-diabetic state.

Why CAT ? (Cellular Activation Therapy) diabetes treatment

This is exactly what CAT does.  It converts its patients to a non-diabetic state in just one day a week therapy.  (the treatment will be described later).

The importance of this is that when a diabetic person is converted from heavy lipid use, to more normal carbohydrates and lipids, the basic problem with “diabetes-the disease of improper carbohydrate and lipid metabolism” is addressed.

It is no wonder that all of the problems with diabetes are addressed by this therapy.  This is because if you overcome the basic problem of diabetes, all of the diabetes generated problems will subside, and the natural healing of tissues will take over, and in many ways reverse the complications.

What can patients expect from CAT

The expectation that any patient on CAT will have is that their diabetes will stop destroying their body and impairing their minds and nerves.  They will reverse most, if not all, of the symptoms of diabetes.  The following is a list:

      1. Advanced Kidney Disease (Nephropathy)  CAT will slow, stop and reverse kidney disease,  Depending upon how severely the kidneys have been compromised, the treatment will stop the progression of kidney disease as shown in the published studies.  Also the protocols for these studies have been improved upon, making the treatment more effective.

      2. Diabetic Nerve Disease (Neuropathy).  One of the most rapid responses to CAT is in the area of nerve disease.  CAT will reverse diabetic caused neuropathy beginning within four months, and going back as far as 3 to 5 years.

      3. Several Types Of Diabetic Eye Diseases, (Retinopathy)  There are a number of different types of eye disease associated with diabetes.  The more common types are successfully treated by CAT.  A patient can expect not to have laser surgery again, after just 4 to 6 months of treatment.

      4. Diabetic Heart Disease (Cardiomyopathy)  Heart disease is the leading killer of people with diabetes.  Their hearts become less able to pump blood, causing a host of problems and symptoms. CAT will reverse diabetic heart disease related to cardiomyopathy, and heart patients will retain their strength and endurance (as well as greatly increased pumping ability as shown by the ejection fractions).

      5. Out Of Control Blood Sugars (Brittle)   Patients on CAT are no longer “brittle” with wild swings of their blood glucose.  This allows diabetic people to feel much more normal.

      6. Loss Of Consciousness (Hypoglycemic Unawareness)  Some people with diabetes will faint or lose consciousness because of low blood sugars that they don’t feel are progressing.   These people sometimes wreck their cars and lose their driver’s licenses.  Most importantly, they and their family must guard against hypoglycemic reactions night and day.  As shown by the publish studies, over 90% of all such reactions are eliminated by CAT, and the patients begin to feel the onset of low blood sugar if they over medicate or under eat.

      7. High Blood Pressure (Hypertension)   Patients with high blood pressure will see great improvements within 3 months, and must decrease their anti-hypertension medications by one-half or more.  This is shown by published clinical studies, and is evidence of the over-all healing ability of CAT, as the entire cause and effect of hypertension is not well understood.

      8. Non-Healing Wounds And Sores Of All Types  Many diabetic people cannot feel their feet (neuropathy) and so they walk in a way that puts too much pressure on certain parts of their feet.  This is the more common wound that does not heal, and progresses to amputations. CAT will heal these wounds quickly.  CAT enables the natural healing process to take over.

      9. Male And Female Sexual Dysfunction (including ED)  Sexual function is often lost to people with diabetes, both male and female.  It is more obvious with erectile dysfunction.

      10. Metabolically Induced Depression And Chronic Fatigue   Almost all people with diabetes experience depression and fatigue easily as compared to their prior life.  Since nerve cells and the brain almost exclusively depend on sugar for their metabolism, the nerves and brain are impacted, sometimes without knowing it.   CAT quickly relieves these two major problems by feeding nerve tissues and allowing the patient to feel “normal again.”  In fact, one almost uniform statement is that “I didn’t know how sick I felt until with CAT I became well again.”

      11. Many Other Less Quantitated Symptoms Of Diabetes.   Every person with diabetes and their families will report that diabetes is a disease of opportunity, it will attack everywhere, and cause a problem where the patient is most weak.  There is never a vacation from diabetes once complications set in.  With CAT that is all changed, and “people get their lives back.”

What are the specific outcomes CAT patient can expect?

      1.  Kidney Disease: Kidney disease is expensive to treat with dialysis or a transplant, both of which are very difficult for the patient. Kidney disease, before CAT was a continual decline of kidney function until dialysis or transplant. Over 50% of all dialysis patients are diabetic. However CAT can slow, stop and in some cases reverse the progression of kidney disease. Patients without kidney disease have a creatiinine clearance (CrCl) measured in milliliters/minute (ml/min). Normal values are: Male CrCl: 97 to 137 ml/min. Female CrCl: 88 to 128 ml/min.

      a.  Diabetic patients who have progressed to only 60 ml/min CrCL will expect to lose 9 to 12 points per year on average.

      b.  Diabetic patients on CAT can expect to not lose any of ml/min, as shown by a clinical trial where after 37 months (3 years), patients retained the same CrCl levels.

      c.  Patients with CrCl of 35 ml/min or above can regain some of their kidney function, and avoid dialysis.

      d.  It is assumed that patients who have no reduction of CrCl will never progress to kidney disease with CAT.

      2.  Nerve Conduction: One of the leading complications of diabetes is diabetic neuropathy (DN). The prevalence of DN varies greatly but it is estimated to be somewhere around 30-60% in most studies. In the Rochester Diabetes Project, MN, the prevalence of any neuropathy was 66% in type 1 and 59% for type 2 diabetes.

      a.  Nerve conduction velocities are how nerves are tested to determine their ability to transmit sensations and work normally.

      b.  Nerve conduction velocities for patients without CAT will continue to lose their ability to transmit feeling.

      c.  Nerve conduction velocities for patient on CAT can expect improvement of 4 to 9 m/sec.

      d.  In all patients there will be a marked and dramatic improvement soon after starting CAT in their neuropathic symptoms, quality of life, sleep patterns.

      e.  A significant percentage will completely discontinue all pain medications (analgesics and antineuropathic medications).

Diabetic people often have pain, loss of sensation, and pressure wounds on their feet. Patients on CAT have a unique elimination of neuropathy progression, and even reversal of nerve loss, depending upon the duration of neuropathy. A rule of thumb is the patient will regain feeling or function which occurred 5 years prior.

      3.  Retinopathy: Diabetes is the greatest cause of non-injury blindness. Patients without CAT can have a number of different problems. Laser photocoagulation is a procedure in which a surgeon uses a laser to coagulate tissue, usually to seal leaking blood vessels and destroy new ones.

      a.  Most people with type 1 diabetes will develop retinopathy (25 year Wisconsin Study) Of those, 42% will develop the more severe proliferative retinopathy.

      b.  Once diabetic retinopathy needs laser photocoagulation treatment, it can continue to be required many times, until blindness.

      c.  Patients on CAT can expect to never need laser surgery again.Patients on CAT can expect to see colors more vividly.

      4.  Diabetic Cardiomyopathy: The number one killer of people with diabetes is heart disease. The failure of the heart muscle to be properly supplied with cellular energy from glucose (carbohydrates) causes a form of starvation. Since tight control actually reduces the available glucose to heart muscle, the Federal study on prevention of heart disease actually stopped in 2008 when researchers saw an increase in heart attacks with intensive blood glucose control, instead of reduction.

      a.  CAT provides the heart muscle with the ability to burn carbohydrates, a better form of metabolism, which requires less oxygen.

      b.  With more cellular energy (ATP) available to the heart, the repair functions of the heart can take place.

      c.  Patients with ejection fractions as low as 27% can expect to significantly regain ejection levels (eg 58%) with CAT.

      d.  Patients with congestive heart failure can expect to resolve within a matter of several months on CAT.

      5.  Brittle Diabetes and Hypoglycemic Unawareness: After 10 years many people with type 1 diabetes, and later than that, people with type 2 diabetes, often become unaware of their blood sugars. This can result in hypoglycemic unawareness, and occasionally passing out, sometimes at just the wrong moment.

      a.  As confirmed by clinical trial, major hypoglycemic reactions were reduced by 97% with CAT.

      b.  This reduction took place even though the average blood sugar (HbA1c) was reduced almost 20%, and reducing average blood sugar would usually result in more hypoglycemic reactions.

      c.  Patients on CAT naturally buffer their blood sugar as their bodies are storing and releasing glucose more like non-diabetic people.

      d.  The natural buffering of blood sugar with CAT is merely a sign that the core problem of diabetes, carbohydrate and lipid metabolism, is being effectively treated.

      6.  Hypertension and hypotension (blood pressures). Hypertension, and the less common hypotension exist in a majority of patients with diabetes. This disease is not well understood, with several theories as to the pathogenesis (causes and mechanisms). The fact that it is so closely linked with heart, stroke, kidney and eye disease suggests that if CAT were to address the core problem, it should also result in better blood pressures, both low and high. CAT performs an amazingly fast reduction of average blood pressure within just 3 months.

      a.  As confirmed by cross-over clinical trial, patients uniformly reduced their hypertension and need for medication by almost 50% within 3 months.

      b.  Patients with hypotension (get dizzy and perhaps pass out just getting up), many times are also hypertensive and then become hypotensive. Patients can expect that this condition will resove.

      c.  The treatment of postural (standing and lying down) hypotension and hypertension is particularly damaging to the person with diabetes as they routinely must be made hypertensive (high bp) just to compensate for the hypotensive (low bp).

      7.  Wounds. Wounds and sores are a common problem for people with diabetes. They often lead to amputations and the constant loss of more and more mobility. The complex process of wound healing relates to both oxygen and the cellular removal and growth of new cells. Oxygen requirements are higher when tissues are using fats to sustain their metabolism (and diabetic people on traditional treatment have cells that are always using elevated fats). In addition, the lack of good blood flow from arthrosclerosis (hardening of the vessel walls) causes the average person with diabetes to be susceptible to wounds which will not heal. A major factor in healing is tumor necrosis factor alpha, (TNF a) part of the healing process which is dependent upon insulin and glucogon ratios, and is markedly lower in people with diabetes.

      a.  Patients on CAT can expect their wounds to immediately begin to resolve.

      b.  Patients with pending amputations can expect to avoid amputation if there is even a reduced blood flow to the site.

      c.  Pressure wounds such as the following will resolve within 3 to 6 months.

Why CAT ? (Cellular Activation Therapy) diabetes treatmentWhy CAT ? (Cellular Activation Therapy) diabetes treatment

Why CAT ? (Cellular Activation Therapy) diabetes treatmentWhy CAT ? (Cellular Activation Therapy) diabetes treatment

       8.  Sexual Function. One of the more common problems for people with diabetes relates to sexual function and sexual interest. This occurs in both men and women, with erectile dysfunction being more obvious. Women have the same type of disease process, but are not as easily diagnosed. Part of the problem is also related to arousal and the mental state of feeling the desire to have an intimate relationship. If CAT is addressing the core problem of diabetes, it would also help with sexual function, and it does.

      a.  Women on CAT can expect a greater need for sexual function, and a greater level of sensation. Part of this is related to physical, and part to the sense of well being that accompanies patients on CAT.

      b.  Men on CAT can expect to regain their erectile ability if they have been able to achieve an erection within the last 5 years. The time for reversal is different for each patient, but there is a significant time period during which it can be regained.

      9.  Depression and Fatigue. With diabetes it would be unexpected if patients were not somewhat depressed. This is due to the ever-present nature of diabetes. Some say "you never get a vacation from diabetes." However, there is a physiological reason for the fatigue, and even the depression. As shown above, nerve cells are highly dependent upon glucose for their cellular energy. They use glucose because it is a more quickly converted metabolite, and nerves require rapid conversion of energy to maintain their ability to transmit signals.

      a.  Without CAT the nerve velocities (and thus the conductivity) is markedly reduced. After CAT the ability of the brain to function increases, and the presence of brain dysfunction will ameliorate.

      b.  Fatigue can be at many levels, but it definitely occurs when cells are working at a reduced rate of metabolism, such as with Diabetes. As shown by the clinical trial, the person with diabetes has reduced ability to metabolize during exercise, but regains and in some ways surpasses the normal with CAT.

      c.  Patient on CAT can expect to almost immediately, within the first 8 treatments, to sense and show a difference in their energy levels. The difference is striking, and almost all patients explain that they did not know how tired they were until they weren't.

      10.  General Malaise. People with diabetes are impaired metabolically, and thus are expected to have a host of other symptoms, from sleep disorders, eating disorders, stability disorders, and sudden changes in mood and ability. Many say "nothing goes right" when comparing diabetes with normal metabolism, and that is somewhat logical, given the inability of the person with diabetes to metabolize the most common and anaerobic form of energy.

      a.  Patients on CAT will quickly lose the sense of helplessness and general malaise as their nervous system and other cellular abilities come back to normal.

      b.  The reversal of general malaise can cause patients on CAT to have a "superman" experience. This is where the patient feels so relieved at no longer being metabolically deprived, they think that nothing can go wrong. Patients are counseled that they are still very human, with all the non-diabetic processes associated with living and need to addressed.

      11.  General Health. People on CAT can achieve greater levels of heath. This comes from the ability of each cell in the body to do its DNA designed and prepared function. This allows them to achieve better exercise levels and autoimmune functionality.
